Building decentralized democracy using social verification
About Proof of Humanity
Proof of Humanity is a project building decentralized democracy using social verification. The project addresses the sybil attack problem in decentralized systems, which is the challenge of ensuring that each participant is a unique real person rather than someone operating multiple fake accounts.
Proof of Humanity uses a system where people verify each other's humanity through video submissions and vouching, creating a registry of verified unique humans on the blockchain. This registry can then be used by other applications that need to ensure one-person-one-vote, distribute resources fairly, or prevent manipulation by bots and fake accounts.
The project has practical implications for everything from democratic governance in DAOs to universal basic income distribution.
