The project describes itself as the operating system for sovereign communities, and it offers software that handles day-to-day operations like guest bookings, volunteer stays, resident accommodations, event management, space coordination, and resource sharing, all through a single integrated system.

For communities that are ready for more advanced governance, Closer also offers web3 features including native tokens, proof of presence tracking, proof of participation (called proof of sweat), and decentralized decision-making tools. The platform is built around the idea that regenerative communities, meaning communities focused on restoring ecosystems and building sustainable local economies, spend too much time on administrative and governance overhead.

By providing a ready-made operating system, Closer lets these communities focus on their actual work rather than getting bogged down in spreadsheets and coordination problems. The platform connects a network of regenerative communities around the world, creating a shared infrastructure layer that individual projects can plug into.
