About the Network School Exam

There are four steps between where you are now and your future tech job.

Here's how it works.

The first step is to take this online practice exam, which assesses personality, reasoning ability, and fundamental concepts in math and computer science.

If you pass the online exam, the next step is to visit Network School to take a proctored, in-person, AI-proof test on pen and paper. If you pass this test with flying colors, we'll get you a job right away. However, if you demonstrate raw talent on the in-person exam (but not domain knowledge), you can stay at Network School for free on scholarship while you study to remedy your gaps in knowledge. When doing this, you'll take monthly progress tests to demonstrate your continuous improvement and keep your scholarship in good standing.

Now, let's discuss the online exam.

The online exam has three sections.

The first section is a simple personality test with no right answers, which you can treat as a warmup. The next section tests reasoning ability in a language-neutral way. So even if English is your second language, you can do well here. The last section tests your subject matter knowledge in math and computer science, so it has more specifics.

At the end, you'll get your score and learn if you qualify for the proctored in-person exam at Network School. If you fly out in person, you'll be retested on similar material but purely with pencil and paper.

Exam Section 1: Personality

This section assesses how you tend to think and work with other people. There are no right answers. You'll see a set of statements and choose how much you agree or disagree with each one. Answer quickly and truthfully.

Here are a few sample personality questions:

Exam Section 2: Reasoning

This section tests reasoning ability without relying heavily on language, credentials, or where you went to school. You should carefully find the pattern, then choose the answer that best completes it. Please don't use AI, search engines, or any external tools. (There's no point anyway because you'll be retested on similar material on the in-person exam.)

Here is an example reasoning question:

Exam Section 3: Knowledge

This section tests basic mathematics and computer science knowledge. The questions cover algebra, calculus, discrete math, algorithms, and complexity theory.
