In @balajis https://t.co/pzgRd4E5b4 there is a line about “history as written to the ledger vs history written by the victors”, that made me curious: Wikipedia edit wars are a thing, but the edit history assuages me. Are there cases where histories have been wiped by victors?

@DylanLeClair_ The Network State by @balajis. Essential reading on macro. Combines historical insight with actionable strategies. Poses a critical challenge for #bitcoin: how do we build a post-nation-state high-trust society with a trustless protocol at its core?
This is why I think @balajis' 'Network State' model has legs: it's already the case among forward-looking elites with the agency to engineer their working lives. And everything in American life starts at the top before percolating down to everyone to some extent.
@joshelman @saranormous @ycombinator Also the alums go on to do really amazing things that feed the whole sector. I think people underestimate the value of community especially over the course of decades. I legit believe YC is a prototype model for what @balajis talks about when he says the Network State.

Aha moment from @balajis's new book: The Network State Many dismiss the idea of starting a new country, as the scale seems inconceivable. @MWPahl @AlexEpstein @BjornLomborg I’m skeptical that any politician will champion civil libs. So who’d be better?
I think part of my struggle with reviewing the Network State is that it's so idea-dense that I literally can't give all the ideas proper treatment (within the Substack word limit), even if I divide it into three parts.
